Chapter 31 Underwater Escape
Chapter 31 Underwater Escape
The Deer-Headed Demon emerged from the mist, its enormous body finally becoming visible.
Its head resembles that of a deer, with a pair of branching antlers on its head. Its face is hairless and very pale, with scarlet eyes and a mouth full of fangs.
The Deer-Headed Demon was extremely robust, standing three meters tall, with thick black mane covering its body and some pale skin and muscles showing through its limbs.
Its limbs are also very strong, with sharp claws on its four toes, and its exposed pale skin is covered with moss.
This stag-headed demon looks clumsy, but moves like a cat, making a loud thud when it walks because of its heavy weight.
Lin Er sensed an extremely dangerous aura with just one glance, which made him recall the Silver Shield family patriarch he had met that day—Raymond.
This deer-headed demon's strength has probably reached the third tier, which is definitely beyond his current ability to contend with.
Flora, standing nearby, said with a somber expression, "We're clearly on the edge of the central area, so why are there stag-headed demons here?"
Lin Er pointed ahead of the Deer-Headed Demon, reminding Flora that the colorful lark had been guiding it.
This wicked beast cannot be allowed to escape any longer.
At the same time, he had already drawn his Moonlight Sword and slashed at the five-colored lark.
The colorful lark was already on guard, and when it saw Lin Er using his flying sword again, it flapped its wings and tried to escape.
Just when Lin Er thought his attack was about to miss again, a gust of wind swept across his face, making him feel a little painful.
An arrow, accompanied by a powerful whirlwind, sped after the flying sword and caught up with it in the blink of an eye.
With a soft thud, the arrow struck its target.
A burst of multicolored blood mist exploded, scattering feathers and blood droplets all over the ground.
Lin Er couldn't help but feel happy; that damned beast was finally dead.
Before he could continue to rejoice, the Deer-Headed Demon roared to the sky, seemingly enraged. It moved swiftly on all fours and charged straight at the two of them.
Although this deer-headed demon was enormous, it was incredibly fast, leaping seven or eight meters in a single bound, shaking the ground as if it were an earthquake, causing cracks to appear in the soil.
Just as Lin Er was about to retreat, he lost his balance and could hardly move. Flora next to him was not much better off and almost fell to the ground.
Lin Er had just regained his footing when the Deer-Headed Demon attacked, leaving him no chance to escape.
He sensed danger and quickly dodged backward.
The next second, the Deer-Headed Demon slapped him, grazing his clothes before landing heavily on the ground.
With a loud bang, dust and dead leaves flew everywhere, leaving a deep claw mark on the ground.
Lin Er was terrified. If that hit him, he would definitely be turned into mincemeat, and even his protective magic wouldn't be able to stop it.
At that moment, Flora seized the opportunity and thrust her sword at the forelimbs of the stag-headed demon. Her swordsmanship was extremely fast, and she thrust twice in succession.
After Lin Er created some distance, he also used his flying sword to slash the forelimbs of the Deer-Headed Demon three times. Upon closer inspection, he saw that only three shallow wounds remained.
Flora's two stabs only left two small wounds, with little blood flowing out.
The Deer-Headed Demon's body is probably as hard as steel.
Lin Er's heart sank.
After being attacked, the stag-headed demon retaliated by striking Flora, who was closest to it, without any warning.
Lin Er was startled and was about to warn her when he saw Flora react quickly. She first used her sword to block, and sparks flew everywhere as the sword broke into three pieces and flew away.
She used the wind element to seize the opportunity to separate and successfully reunite with Lin Er.
Lin Er continued running with Flora, but the stag-headed demon was in hot pursuit. Even small trees and bushes blocked its way, but they were instantly reduced to ashes with a single charge, not buying it a moment's time.
He reacted quickly, saying, "Let's climb the tree first."
After Lin Er reminded Flora, he leaped up and used the tree trunk for leverage, reaching a branch seven or eight meters high, thinking that this should be able to delay it for a while.
The Deer-Headed Demon chased after the tree to its base and slammed his two hands down on the roots. The massive tree, which required two people to encircle, collapsed instantly, and a shower of leaves fell to the ground.
Fortunately, Lin Er was prepared. Seeing how powerful the Deer-Headed Demon was, he decisively jumped down from the tree and ran towards the six tree spirits without hesitation.
These six tree spirits insisted on stopping me; now it's time to teach them a lesson.
As Lin Er approached the tree spirits, they also stood up from the ground, extended their claws, and looked fierce and menacing.
He didn't get any closer. Seeing that the Deer-Headed Demon had caught up, he seized the opportunity to turn and run.
The stag-headed demon couldn't stop itself and crashed headlong into the group of tree spirits, making a very loud noise.
After Lin Er realized that the Deer-Headed Demon was no longer chasing after them, he thought he had succeeded and turned around to check the situation.
After the deer-headed demon got up, it seemed uninterested in the tree spirits. It casually knocked one of the tree spirits to the ground and turned to leave.
Having suffered such a great loss, how could the tree spirits let it leave so easily? They immediately attacked with their claws, leaving several bloody marks on the deer-headed demon, wounds that were deeper than those inflicted by Lin Er and Flora.
The Deer-Headed Demon cried out in pain and became enraged, immediately engaging in a fight with the tree spirits.
These tree spirits were numerous and powerful, and their skin was extremely thick, so the Deer-Headed Demon couldn't do anything to them.
However, the tree spirits were very slow, and after suffering a setback, the Deer-Headed Demon tried to escape.
Lin Er was prepared to wait for the tree spirit and the stag-headed demon to be exhausted, but he did not expect the stag-headed demon to be so vulnerable. As a third-tier demon, it could not even kill a group of second-tier demons.
Seeing that the Deer-Headed Demon was chasing after him again, he dared not linger and continued to flee.
We can't worry about the poisonous fog now; we just need to get out of there first. Anyway, the poisonous fog will disappear soon.
After the two fled into the woods for a while, the deer-headed demon was still chasing them, about fifty meters away, and was still closing in.
The sky had completely darkened, and the Misty Forest, which was already poorly lit, was now even more pitch black.
They had prepared torches, but dared not take them out now, lest they give the Deer-Headed Demon directions.
Lin Er was alright, as his senses worked in the dark. Flora, however, had a much harder time. She had no night vision and could barely see the road, nearly falling into piles of leaves several times.
After Lin Er realized this, he had no choice but to take her hand and run away together.
Flora said, "The Leshen doesn't like water. We need to find water, otherwise we won't be able to shake it off."
Just then, the sound of flowing water came from ahead.
Lin Er quickly said, "There seems to be a river ahead. I have an idea."
Lin Er led Flora away in the direction of the flowing water, and soon he saw a river, about seven or eight meters wide.
The two immediately jumped in and, after diving into the water, found that the bottom was three or four meters deep, which was perfect for hiding.
The deer-headed demon quickly caught up, stopped by the riverbank, and kept sniffing around, refusing to move.
It clearly knew the two were hiding underwater, but had no intention of wading in, seemingly disgusted by water, and silently lay to the side, licking its wounds.
After Lin Er discovered this with his senses, he was about to pull Flora to the other side, further away, before going ashore.
Unexpectedly, after swimming only a dozen meters, he suddenly sensed a group of dangerous creatures not far away in the water, which looked like a group of strange fish.
The monsters also seemed to fear the Deer-Headed Demon and dared not approach the waters.
Lin Er realized he was in trouble; he was now trapped here.
He could only hold his breath, hoping that the Deer-Headed Demon would lose patience and leave as soon as possible.
Lin Er held his breath, minimizing his movements as much as possible. Fortunately, he was now a cultivator, and although he didn't know the art of tortoise breathing, his ability to hold his breath underwater far surpassed that of ordinary people.
His only worry was Flora, fearing she might not be able to hold her breath.
It turned out that Flora remained remarkably calm. She controlled the wind element, and air currents flowed towards her, forming a string of bubbles in the water, so she wasn't afraid of holding her breath underwater at all.
Lin Er remained calm and waited silently.
An hour passed quickly.
Lin Er felt himself getting dizzy. He glanced at Flora, whose face remained calm. It seemed she could stay underwater for a whole day without any problems.
He glanced at the shore again; that damned stag-headed demon still hadn't left.
I can't hold on any longer.
Lin Er felt like he was about to roll his eyes back.
Now there is no other way but to risk surfacing for a breath of fresh air.
Just then, Flora swam over and grabbed his hands.
Lin Er was slightly taken aback. The next moment, Flora's exquisite face appeared in front of him, very close.
He was puzzled, wondering why Flora was preventing him from rising.
Before Lin Er could think any further, he suddenly felt his lips being bitten by something soft, followed by a breath of air.
Lin Er's eyes widened immediately.
