Chapter 505: Batter For Nora
Chapter 505: Batter For Nora
*CLANK!*
Old fang was like a spectral as he moved before the blades, blocking the attack with his claws.
The needles dissipated in the air.
Old fang’s eyes focused on the woman with a scar on her face. "Lady Laqua of the Temperance family, do you dare raise your hand on the heir of the Diligence family?"
Those words made her frown as she stared intently at him. She gritted her teeth harshly, and then she spoke. "I was not aware that such an important guest had visited my market. I had only thought of killing the Pagan trash behind you. After all, its a stock trying to run away, your young master seemed to have gotten in the way."
Laqua had chosen her words very carefully. She intended that it was all Eunid’s fault for stepping in when she was trying to discipline her property.
After all, a runaway slave’s sentence was death, and if given forgiveness, the chopping of a hand.
This way she was in the right for attacking when she did.
Eunid also understood this.
And while he had old fang here, he was not enough to stand against the might and ability of the Temperance family in this place.
His mind raced as calculated a lot of things. After all, he had been told in a dream to come to this place, that the answers to the problems of his family was here and he had actually seen the sign that he had been looking for.
However, he could not outrightly say that in such a place. Besides, no one would believe him. The goddess Diligence had not communicated her will in hundreds of years.
Even with his status, it was not possible. Besides, even he did not totally believe until he saw it himself.
After all, we all know that no pagan god can fight against Fate as she is the end of all man. These are the exact words of the holy scriptures."
On saying this, the men of the holy church that had gauarded were forced to look at the girl child on the ground in another light.
"I am Eunid of the Diligence Family of The Holy Church, like you, I have seen scrolls of the Holy Book and I am sure that like myself, you recognize the runes of the goddess, or don’t you?"
Laqua’s anger was instantly aroused. However, she maintained a straight face.
She had actually underestimated this boy. He was killing at least three birds with one stone.
Firstly, since the public believed the absolute power of the goddess Fate and believed that pagan gods were in capable of going against her will which was the fact that Fate was the begining and end of all things, then it meant that Fate, the goddess was the one that had granted Nora the life that she had.
Secondly, he was using his authority as an heir and one would had superior education on the Holy scriptures to challenge her.
After all, the Virtues families were seen as the nearest to the goddess Fate.
Meaning that if he recognized it as such, then she too also recognized it.
And lastly, after declaring his name as publicly as he did, he was pulling laqua to his side. After all, they all believed in the goddess fate. And the rest of the world saw them as one. Therefore, if he was not wrong, then she was not wrong.
But to make the last point clearer, Eunid added some sauce to the mix.
"Tsk Tsk tsk... Lady Laqua, I have heard that the injury you got after your battle with the Zodiac families affecte da part of your sight, so bad that even clerics could not fully help you. It is no wonder you were not able to see who had escaped properly. Of course, i am sure that if you did, you wouldn’t have attacked.
This is the border to the Holy land, no pagan god is so foolish to exercise power here, or is that not so, Lady Laqua?"@@@@
