Chapter 32 Klar in Desperate Circumstances!
Chapter 32 Klar in Desperate Circumstances!
Hick used his mental power to drag Belon, who was corrupted by the curse and whose life force had been forcibly locked by his mentor, away from the cold laboratory.
The chilly air in the corridor brought him to a slightly more awake state, but his heart was still pounding from the horror and lingering fear he had just experienced.
Even a first-level wizard cannot escape death...
The thought struck his nerves repeatedly like a cold hammer.
He glanced down at Belon, who was hovering to his side—his face contorted with pain and bleeding from all seven orifices—and a surge of relief welled up inside him.
If only we hadn't chosen to be patient and rely on others back then...
The consequences could be disastrous.
"Klara..."
Hick chewed on the name in a low voice, his eyes filled with complex emotions: apprehension, lingering fear... but more than anything, a cold excitement at the prospect of personally strangling the "protagonist."
"Your hand is indeed strong, but unfortunately," he whispered silently, "the table you've uncovered is higher than you can imagine."
Without further hesitation, he quickened his pace and headed straight for the prison.
It wasn't that Hick didn't want to send Belon to the infirmary, but the strange curse left him helpless.
Since it can't be dealt with, then let's stop dealing with it.
The prison is perfect; the magic array within might be able to suppress the curse.
After hastily settling Belon in, Hick stopped an apprentice and coldly ordered, "Call Kurt, Dilla, and Andy over here immediately."
"Understood, Boss Hick!"
After giving his instructions, Hick went to the new apprentices' classroom shortly afterward.
Standing in the shadows of the corridor not far from the large classroom where Clara was, Hick suddenly remembered:
This was, in fact, his first "formal" meeting with Clara.
"Boss Hick, everyone's here. The Level 3 apprentices are in position as planned." Kurt's voice was deep and swift.
Hick nodded slightly.
As cautious as he was, he was afraid that Clara might become desperate and fight to the death.
With these level-three apprentices backing them up, plus their own strength, even if something unexpected happens, escaping will be much easier.
As for whether the third-level apprentices can escape together?
They had no idea how terrifying Klar was; they only thought of him as an ordinary first-level apprentice.
Hick led the group slowly into the large classroom. His cold gaze, like a tangible probe, swept over the new apprentices who were listening to their instructor explain the basics of witchcraft.
Their intrusion was like a boulder thrown into a stagnant pool.
The whispers abruptly stopped.
An invisible pressure permeated the air, and the new apprentices lowered their heads in awe, unable to look directly at each other. Even the instructor on the platform stopped lecturing, frowning in displeasure.
Hick's gaze was fixed precisely on Clara in the corner.
Clara seemed to sense something and looked up. Her eyes were unexpectedly calm, even... hiding a hint of cruelty.
"Klara".
Hick's voice wasn't loud, but it clearly pierced through the deathly silence, carrying an unquestionable tone of command.
"Come with me."
All eyes instantly focused on Klara—curiosity, sympathy, and even more so, schadenfreude.
Being personally escorted away by Hick and his men within this wizard tower is definitely not a good thing.
Especially when he saw Kurt, Dila, Andy, and several powerful Level 3 apprentices standing solemnly behind him.
Clara's heart sank.
What was bound to happen has finally happened.
Hick, did you choose today as your death anniversary?
"Senior Hick..." Clara's voice carried a perfectly timed hint of panic, "Excuse me... is there something you need?"
Hick's lips curled into a cold smile, devoid of any warmth, only filled with a triumphant mockery.
"Professor Perot wants to see you. Now, immediately."
"Pe...Professor Pedro?!" Clara's pupils suddenly contracted!
Level Two Wizard!
Tower Master!
The name struck him like a thunderbolt, instantly making his vision go black.
He had envisioned various forms of retaliation from Hick: direct assassination, framing and expulsion, or even secretly smuggling him out of the Wizard Tower... He was confident that he could maneuver around them and retaliate.
But I never expected this!
Hick actually wanted to take him directly to the Tower Master!
Hick... how could he do this?!
Because of Belon's "selfless dedication," he crammed a lot about the rules of the wizarding world in the library, understood why Belon was surprised at the time, and also understood the basis of his "safety."
This was originally the source of his confidence in remaining calm and collected.
But why... did Hick make this move?
Seeing the feigned "panic" on Clara's face crumble instantly upon hearing the name "Pero," transforming into disbelief, horror, and utter chaos...
Hick's inward sneer almost spilled out of his mouth.
How could he not know what Belon was thinking and what Clara was planning at this moment?
He understands the "rules" and "values" of the wizarding world better than they do!
Why should I follow the script they think I should follow?
What he lacks most right now is not some vague opportunity, but time!
The time spent conducting experiments and the time spent solidifying the results.
His future is bright, so why would he take unnecessary risks for an unknown "opportunity"?
"Yes, Clara, don't you feel honored?"
Hearing Hick's amused voice, Clara took a deep breath.
Looking at the several third-level apprentices behind Hick, and the apprentices whispering around him.
Krall knew that if he made a move in such a place, it would cause too much of a commotion, and he would probably be besieged by the entire Wizard Tower.
"Of course, it is my honor to receive the invitation from the Tower Master."
Hick scoffed; he didn't believe Karal could turn the tide now.
After thinking about it, he felt that the only way for Klara to turn things around was to go to the top floor with him.
He winked at Kurt, who understood.
"Then... please!"
Watching Hick and the others, along with Klar, leave, the instructor who had been lecturing breathed a sigh of relief.
He originally wanted to reprimand Hick, but when he heard that it was at the behest of Lord Pelota, he refrained from uttering the reprimand.
Whether a newly promoted second-level wizard is still the same as before, the mentor was not sure. In order not to offend him, he tacitly approved of Hick's behavior.
"Silence! Silence! What does this have to do with you? Continue the lesson!"
As Hick and his group led Krall up the spiral staircase, Hick's doubts deepened.
Is this Klar just accepting his fate?
This doesn't fit the style of a "protagonist"!
Is there really nothing special about his ring?
Or perhaps...
He has the confidence to face a level two wizard!
"Impossible! Absolutely impossible! How could a 'protagonist' who has just entered the wizarding world be this strong? Could this ring be his cheat code?"
While Hick was making wild guesses, the group had already reached the top floor of the Wizard's Tower.
This is the place where the power to control the entire Wizard Tower is located, and it is also the most important heart of the entire Wizard Tower!
"Click...click..."
As the massive stone gate was opened by Hick's men, the heart of this wizard's tower was revealed to everyone!
"Hick, did you bring Clara?"
"Mentor, Clara has arrived!"
