Chapter 4 Experiment
Chapter 4 Experiment
Inside the lord's study, Viran sat upright in an old wooden chair, his hands resting on the desk, a pile of "grains of rice" laid out on the rough, yellowed paper in front of him.
These are goblin magic cores collected by Igris. According to her, these things are everywhere in the wild, since goblins reproduce every month and their numbers are simply enormous.
A moment later, there was a knock on the study door, and Llorente came in carrying several small wooden tubes.
"Lord Vilan, the wooden tubes you requested... Fortunately, the old lord had some spice containers in his collection, otherwise I really wouldn't know where to look for them."
Vilan gave Llorente a grateful smile. "Thank you for your hard work, Mr. Advisor."
Llorente nodded, then placed the wooden cylinders one by one on the desk, while Vilan held a goblin magic core in his right hand, carefully sensing the magic within.
Just like the first time I saw it, there was a faint fiery red line in the center of the magic core, and another even fainter transparent magic power was wrapped around it.
This was Vilan's own magic. He only slightly activated this transparent magic, and with a "bang," the magic core turned into powder.
Vilan caught the powder with a piece of paper and then set it aside.
After about ten minutes, all the goblin magic cores on the table were turned into powder and placed on three separate pieces of paper.
The reason they are divided into three parts is that the colors inside the magic cores are not the same. Some magic cores contain fiery red magic, while others contain dark gray earth and still others contain light blue magic.
Vilan had already asked Llorente, and it was because the goblins were of different species. Those fiery red magic cores came from red-skinned goblins with fiery red skin, while the others came from gray-skinned and blue-skinned goblins.
"After all, it's an experiment, so it's better to be rigorous."
With a smile, Vilan packed the magic core powder into three wooden cylinders, then stood up and said, "Let's go, Gei and the others should be ready by now."
……
Inside the castle gardens.
A young guard named Saka, with blond hair and a fair complexion, brought over a bucket of mud. He carefully placed the bucket on the open ground, afraid that his guard uniform would get dirty with the mud.
Although the guard uniforms were quite different from real knight's attire, they were far more comfortable than other linen clothing and naturally required more care.
Meanwhile, the other guard, the taciturn Gei, built a makeshift fire next to the wooden barrel.
"Hey buddy, don't you think it's weird? Young Master Vilan seems like a different person lately. He never used to order us to do these strange things."
Saka flashed a bright smile, his tone seemingly possessing an innate, irresistible charm.
But this tactic had no effect on Gei, who simply kept staring at the burning fire. "I don't think so, and besides, you should address me as Lord."
"Ah, you're right, we can't call him Young Master Vilan anymore."
Saka clapped his hands, fully agreeing with Gei's reminder.
Although Gei always had a serious and unsmiling demeanor, Saka didn't care. In fact, even when no one was around, he could talk non-stop to himself.
In the distance, Vilan saw Saka pestering Gei again, and couldn't help but feel a headache coming on.
Although he had only known them for half a month, he had already figured out the personalities of these guards. If he didn't intervene, Saka would get beaten up.
"Gentlemen, I hope you haven't forgotten my mission while you're chatting."
Vilan spoke loudly and walked quickly to the two of them. Saka immediately shut his mouth.
Ge Yi bowed slightly to Vilan, "My lord, everything is ready."
"Okay, let's begin the experiment."
Vilan stared at the wooden barrel and the campfire with great interest, while Llorente handed the prepared magic core powder to the guards.
A moment later, the two guards began their task. They first scooped the wet mud out of the wooden bucket, then kneaded it into the shape of a bowl in their hands, and placed the shaped mud bowls next to the fire to speed up the drying of the wet mud.
When they were making the clay bowls for the second time, they poured a little bit of the magic core powder that Vilan had given them into the mud.
Vilan watched this scene with growing tension.
"If my guess is correct, this powder is definitely not just simple waste. If the magic cores of red-skinned goblins can aid combustion, what about those of gray-skinned and green-skinned goblins?"
Vilan suddenly looked at Llorente, "Mr. Consultant, are you sure the Gray Goblin's skin is tougher than other goblins?"
"Of course, it's not just their skin; their flesh and bones are much harder, and rough weapons can hardly pierce them," Llorente said confidently.
"That's good."
Vilan nodded, then continued to observe the experiment.
This was a crude and simple control group experiment, with one group consisting of ordinary clay bowls and the other group consisting of clay bowls with added magic core powder.
The reason for this arrangement was that Vilan already had a crazy idea in his mind, and if the idea came true, he would undoubtedly change the world.
The clay bowl was molded quickly, and the long drying process was completed in just a few minutes after the magic core powder was added.
Simply add the magic core powder of the red goblin to the fire, and the firepower will immediately increase. Not only will the thickness of the flames on the surface increase, but the temperature of the inner flames will also increase significantly.
However, Vilan still dared not pour all the powder in, in case it exploded and everything was over.
Ten minutes later, four dried clay bowls appeared in front of Vilan. For some reason, looking at these ugly clay bowls, he felt a sense of familiarity with his old friend, who was also a civil engineer.
Saka and Gei both showed expressions of surprise.
"Why is there such a big difference!" Saka exclaimed dramatically.
There were four bowls on the ground, two of which were already cracked. They didn't need to be lifted up or thrown down; they shattered into pieces.
These are the two ordinary clay bowls, while the other two clay bowls with added magic core powder are undoubtedly in much better condition. Not only are they not cracked, but their surfaces are even smoother.
Vilan couldn't wait to pick up the two clay bowls and throw them down from his waist.
With two crisp sounds, one of the clay bowls chipped a corner, while the other remained undamaged.
Vilan took a deep breath and picked up the bowl again, this time increasing the height so that it fell from above his head.
"Bang!" "Bang!"
The two clay bowls bounced on the stone pavement, scattering a lot of mud, but they were generally undamaged; at least they could still be seen as intact bowls.
This scene left Goisaka and Llorente completely stunned.
This makes no sense at all; those two bowls should have been broken long ago!
"Lord Vilan, is it because of that powder?" Llorent asked curiously.
Vilan did not answer directly, but instead picked up the clay bowl again, raised it high above his head, and looked up at the rough bowl.
"Red goblins are associated with fire, so they can help with combustion, while gray goblins have thick hides and are therefore tough."
"It seems I really do have an extraordinary magical talent."
