Chapter 82 Extinction
Chapter 82 Extinction
"You think you can escape from me? What a pipe dream! A creature as insignificant as an ant, you only deserve to kneel and tremble at the feet of the great red dragon!!"
A loud roar burst forth from Thor's mouth, stirring up visible shockwaves that exploded outwards amidst the surrounding smoke.
The old woman's long, tangled hair was immediately whipped backward by the shockwave, revealing a look of panic on her face.
What the hell is going on with this damn red dragon? First came the scorching rays, and then a large area of poisonous smoke.
Couldn't he just breathe fire like a normal red dragon? Why are he using such haphazard methods? Could he be some kind of bastard hybrid with some lowly creature?
Despite the wicked thoughts churning in her mind, the old hag forced a humble smile and hurriedly spoke.
"Great Red Dragon, please calm your anger. I am willing to use all the treasures I have accumulated to redeem my freedom."
Thor lowered his head, and with the enhancement of bloodline purification and various monster templates, his head, which was even larger than that of an ordinary red dragon, looked down at the hag, spewing out two thick plumes of smoke full of disdain from his nostrils.
"Your treasure? That's my treasure! Submit to me, offer me everything, or you will die!!"
The scorching smoke, carrying bright sparks, lashed against the old woman's face, causing her to involuntarily lower her head, feeling waves of burning pain.
That damned red dragon, how dare he look down on her like that! She must... she must...!
A surge of intense anger and humiliation welled up in the old hag's heart. She suddenly raised her head and looked directly into Thor's golden vertical pupils. In an instant, her knees buckled and she knelt down with a "thud".
They've all sunk to the point of associating with goblins; where is their dignity left?
It's better to live a miserable life than to die. With her long lifespan, comparable to that of an elf, she might be able to outlive this red dragon. Then she could regain her freedom.
"Great Red Dragon, it is the greatest honor of my life to serve you. I hereby swear to offer you my most sincere loyalty. Please forgive my previous offense..."
A string of flattering words poured out of the hag's mouth, and if it weren't for her truly hideous and repulsive appearance, Thor might have actually felt a bit of pleasure.
As expected of creatures that know how to use magic, their level of intelligence is indeed much higher than those stupid gnolls.
But he did not let his guard down. His eyes, which seemed to contain flowing lava, remained fixed on the tiny old hag below, and he spoke in a cold and indifferent tone.
"Do you take me for a cub just out of the nest? Do you think a few empty words can prove your loyalty? I swear to Her Majesty Tiamat and the great Asmodeus that from this day forward, I will be forever loyal to you!"
Upon hearing this, the old hag's heart sank.
Oaths made merely in the name of gods have little real binding force.
However, whether one will be punished by the corresponding deity after breaking the oath depends on luck, and ordinary creatures don't dare to gamble on it.
Just as she was hesitating, she saw the red dragon's eyes suddenly turn cold, and a light emanated from its chest all the way down its throat. Flames were already flickering in the corners of its open mouth.
This scene made her realize instantly that the red dragon was never a patient creature, much less someone to be bargained with.
"Very well! No problem! Under the witness of the great Empress Tiamat and Empress Asmodeus, I will forever be loyal to..."
As the last word of the oath fell, Thor seemed to feel an invisible force emanating from the hag before him, flying straight into the unknown depths of the void.
Of course, this alone is still not enough to guarantee the witch's loyalty.
Even the devil's contract has loopholes that people can exploit, so such a simple oath is naturally full of flaws.
But Saul only needed this simple restraint to prevent the hag from escaping. As for whether she would outwardly comply but inwardly disobey or shirk her duties, he had plenty of ways to deal with that.
Then, Thor withdrew his gaze from the witch, flapped his large wings, and took to the air again, landing back on the hilltop not far away.
This place offers a wide view and is an excellent observation deck, perfect for him to watch the battle between the gnolls and the goblins and pass the time.
…………
Under normal circumstances, if gnolls encounter creatures like bear goblins, they will usually back down unless food is scarce.
However, under Thor's gaze, these creatures that looked like humanoid hyenas were acting with unusual ferocity, as if they were bullying their master.
The gnolls nimbly weaved around the four bear goblins, launching surprise attacks every now and then, making the most of their agility.
As the battle continued, several of the larger female gnolls suddenly rolled over, their bones cracking and stretching, their muzzles widening and lengthening, transforming them into giant hyenas.
In gnoll tribes, there is a profession called sorcerer, where powerful female gnolls pass down knowledge about voodoo and wolves.
Some of these gnolls thus gain the ability to transform into hyenas or ferocious hyenas, and they don't even lose their ability to speak during the transformation, allowing them to communicate freely with hyenas.
After transforming, the jackal's body grew even larger. Although it was still slightly smaller than the bear goblin, it already possessed a certain amount of fighting power.
These bloodthirsty beasts, with cunning glints in their eyes, would often have one or more of them draw the bear goblin's attention from the front, while the others would seize the opportunity to launch a sneak attack from behind.
Hyenas' habits make them particularly "fond" of the bear goblin's genitals.
Just as one of the gnolls was struck hard by the wooden club and its body folded up like a sack, it flew away, while another gnoll, transformed into a giant hyena, took the opportunity to tear open the bear goblin's rear end.
The foul-smelling intestines, accompanied by scalding hot blood, gushed out instantly, which it grabbed tightly with its mouth and dragged a long way.
The injured bear goblin felt a piercing pain in his buttocks, followed by an empty feeling in his abdomen. His strength seemed to be rapidly drained away as if by an invisible hand. He threw his head back and let out a roar full of resentment before staggering to the ground.
The thick, pungent smell of blood in the air excited the gnolls around them even more. They surrounded the remaining bear goblins, emitting eerie laughter that sounded like weeping.
With the first bear goblin falling, the second one quickly followed suit, followed by the third and the fourth, until the entire goblin tribe was completely wiped out.
Thor looked down at the battlefield from his high vantage point, watching the fragments of essence flashing below him, and couldn't help but let out a joyful laugh.
In retrospect, these dirty stray dogs weren't entirely useless; at least they brought some fun to his monotonous life and disposed of the garbage that wasn't worth his personal attention.
