Chapter 43 Guawazi Xiaotian
Chapter 43 Guawazi Xiaotian
As the morning sunlight filtered through the sheer curtains, Li Yitong's nose twitched, and a familiar sweet and sour smell entered her nostrils—the aroma of tomatoes and eggs.
Her eyelashes fluttered, and she slowly opened her eyes, meeting Lin Feng's smiling gaze.
"woke up?"
Li Yitong, still drowsy from just waking up, said, "Mmm...smells so good."
Lin Feng leaned over, gently lifted the thin blanket covering her, his gaze sweeping over her undulating curves, his fingertips inadvertently brushing against her skin, feeling the delicate warmth of her touch.
He chuckled mischievously and pinched her cheek: "Little kitty, it's time to get up, or your breakfast will get cold."
The nickname "Little Kitten" was given to her privately, because she would always make sounds like a kitten whenever they practiced "partner yoga".
Li Yitong blushed at his words, shrank further under the covers, and said coquettishly, "Boss, let me sleep a little longer, I worked so hard last night..."
"Still sleeping?" Lin Feng raised his hand to check his watch. "It's past nine o'clock, the sun's already high in the sky. Get up, I specially made you tomato and egg noodles, your favorite."
"Then..." Li Yitong's eyes darted around, and she stretched out her arms, "Boss, carry me to eat."
Lin Feng smiled helplessly yet indulgently, then bent down and scooped her up in his arms. Li Yitong naturally wrapped her arms around his neck, swaying gently in his embrace.
Li Yitong noticed that something was wrong with her boss. A sly glint flashed in her eyes, and she deliberately shifted her position, like a restless kitten.
"Hmm..." Lin Feng groaned softly, raised his hand and patted her buttocks lightly, his voice a little hoarse as a warning, "If you move again, I'll take you right here and now, so don't beg for mercy."
Li Yitong trembled from his pat, her face instantly flushing red. She obediently stopped moving, burying her face in his neck and laughing quietly.
After finishing breakfast, the two drove to the company. The office building was unusually quiet on Sunday, and they were the only two people in the elevator.
When they arrived at the company, apart from the publicity department, all the other departments were empty. Li Yi was sitting in front of the computer, typing away at the screen, her dark circles under her eyes so heavy they looked like she was wearing smoky makeup.
Hearing footsteps, she turned around abruptly, her eyes bloodshot yet surprisingly bright.
"Director Lin, Sister Yitong!"
Lin Feng looked at her and found it somewhat amusing: "What time did you stay up last night?"
"A little after two!" Li Yi yawned, unable to hide her excitement. "I woke up at seven in the morning and couldn't sleep at all! I'm so excited! I've never done such an intense project before, I feel like I have inexhaustible energy!"
She rubbed her hands together. "I used to think that big IPs were the key, but now I realize that good content is what really matters!"
Raymond Lam nodded: "How's the online reception?"
"Most of them are positive reviews!" Li Yi opened the backend data. "The Douban rating is stable at 8.3, but starting this morning, a few negative reviews have appeared. It seems like someone is deliberately smearing us, stirring up trouble by saying that our 'looping setting is plagiarized' and our 'plot is dragging'."
"Don't worry about it." Lin Feng said calmly. "Tencent will handle it. They care about reputation more than we do. We don't need to do any more promotion. Tencent will push it with all their might. We just need to stay put and retain the audience attracted by 'The Lost Tomb'."
He paused, then added, "By the way, get the promotional plan for 'Take My Brother Away' ready; it's time to prepare."
"Okay!" Li Yi immediately agreed, her steps quickening as she turned to grab the documents. She knew in her heart that if this movie became another hit, her position in the company would be secure. Following Director Lin, there was definitely something to be gained.
Raymond Lam sat at his desk, scrolling through online comments about "The Beginning". Most of them were enthusiastic recommendations from fans: "The veteran actors' acting is superb."
"The growth storylines of Li Shiqing and Xiao Heyun are so touching; they're not just lovestruck, they're comrades-in-arms fighting side by side." "Detail-oriented people will be thrilled; every passenger's story has foreshadowing hidden within." Occasionally, a few negative reviews appear, but they are quickly drowned out by the sea of positive ones.
He picked up his phone and first replied to Tian Xiwei's message. It was clear she'd been binge-watching the show until the early hours of the morning; she sent a long string of messages: "Brother Feng! You're so handsome!" "Sister Xue's acting is amazing too, I want to be a fan!"
Raymond Lam replied: "Still up so late, just to binge-watch dramas? Be careful your aunt and uncle catch you and ground you."
The phone vibrated immediately after the message was sent; it was a video call from Tian Xiwei. As soon as the call connected, her face filled the screen: "Brother Feng! 'The Beginning' is so good! What happens next? Did Li Shiqing and Xiao Heyun escape the loop in the end?"
"Spoilers would ruin the fun," Lin Feng teased her with a smile, leaning back in his chair. "Why don't you just wait for the updates?"
"No, no!" Tian Xiwei started to whine, waving the screen around. "Brother Feng, just tell me a little bit, just a little bit! Or you can secretly send me the script!"
"What are you thinking, you silly kid?" Lin Feng tapped the screen. "You signed a confidentiality agreement; leaking plot details will cost you money. Are you going to pay for it for me?"
"I..." Tian Xiwei was speechless, pouting angrily. After a while, she smiled broadly again, "Okay, okay, I won't watch it then. By the way, Brother Feng, my summer vacation is coming soon, I'll come visit you then! When is our movie coming out?"
"Around the end of July or the beginning of August, that'll be when we'll be doing promotional work."
"Does that mean I can be with Brother Feng every day?" Tian Xi's eyes lit up even more. "Can we travel to different places together?"
"It's for publicity, not for fun," Lin Feng said helplessly. "But we do see each other every day."
"Yay! That's great!" Tian Xiwei jumped up on the other end of the screen. "Then I'll start the countdown now! Goodbye, Feng-ge, I'm going to do my homework!"
After hanging up the phone, Lin Feng smiled helplessly—this girl, always so energetic. He opened Liu Haochun's chat window; she had sent a message at eight in the morning: "Brother Feng, congratulations on 'The Beginning' achieving such great results! I'm so happy for you!"
He replied, "Thank you, Haochun. You should also keep practicing your dance."
After putting down his phone, Li Yitong came over with a glass of warm water and handed it to him: "What are you thinking about? You're smiling so happily."
"I was thinking about Xiaotian," Lin Feng said, taking the water. "That girl is looking forward to summer vacation."
Li Yitong sat down next to him, looked at the stills from "The Beginning" on the computer screen, and said softly, "I really didn't expect that we would actually do it."
She recalled her initial trepidation upon joining the crew, the tension during the explosion scenes, and the image of Raymond Lam staying up all night editing, and felt a mix of emotions.
"This is just the beginning." Lin Feng held her hand. "The numbers will be even better after the broadcast." He looked at her earnestly. "Then, everyone will know that Li Yitong not only has good looks, but also acting skills."
Li Yitong's heart skipped a beat. She looked up into his eyes, where her reflection was seen. She nodded vigorously, "Mmm!"
"What do you want to eat for lunch?" he suddenly asked.
Li Yitong tilted her head and thought for a moment: "I want to eat your braised pork."
"Okay," Lin Feng stood up, "I'll make it for you when I get home from get off work tonight."
"I want to eat now," Li Yitong said, pulling him back, a sly glint in her eyes. "There's no one at the company right now..."
Looking at her flushed cheeks and the spring-like look in her eyes, Lin Feng instantly understood what she meant, and his Adam's apple bobbed slightly.
He closed the door behind him, shutting out the noise outside, and then kissed her lips, the sweet scent of watermelon lingering in his nostrils.
