Chapter 15 Only One Bed
Chapter 15 Only One Bed
There are definitely some regrets.
I finally made it to Japan, and finally to Disneyland, but I only got to play for half a day. And because there were so many tourists, the queues for the rides were so long that I only got to experience a few.
However, life is always full of regrets.
More than feeling regretful, Wu Haiyuan, who had been holding the gold badge, was curious about Han Xijun.
Han Xijun kept fiddling with his phone in the taxi.
Wu Haiyuan inadvertently saw Han Xijun's phone screen; he was replying to emails and messages.
He is very busy.
Although he was recording a program with himself, he didn't actually need to participate in the program.
Aside from initially promoting KAKAO Group's AI R&D department, Han Xijun spent most of the day "accompanying" and "cooperating" with him.
The plan was made by myself.
But it was Han Hee-joon who pushed the plan forward.
After getting out of the taxi, Han Xijun put away his phone.
The stall is right on the street.
Unlike the tented carriages of Country H, the platform is a multi-functional four-wheeled cart that unfolds.
The most obvious difference is that the tented carriage is an enclosed tent space, while the platform is an open roadside stall.
Food also comes in different types.
There are ramen stalls and roadside stands that specialize in selling ramen.
There are food stalls and roadside stands that specialize in selling oden.
There are also dedicated roadside stalls selling teppanyaki, takoyaki, and other specialties.
It primarily provides convenient dining services for people with fast-paced lifestyles.
Very cost-effective.
Few customers leisurely eat and drink at roadside stalls or hawker stands.
Han Xijun and Wu Haiyuan randomly chose a roadside stall with a very rich menu.
There's oden, grilled skewers, ramen, and beef offal hot pot.
I ordered one of each.
People sat around the stalls, just like in a traditional market.
With a sip of hot oden soup, Wu Haiyuan asked, "Does Han Xijun drink alcohol?"
Han Xijun is eating barbecue skewers.
Wu Haiyuan quickly replied, "Never mind, I didn't ask."
After swallowing a skewer of grilled meat, Han Xijun replied, "I almost never drink."
Wu Haiyuan couldn't help but ask again, "Almost?"
Han Xijun hummed in agreement and said, "I drank it five times last year and once this year."
Wu Haiyuan asked, "Is there a limit to the number of times?"
Han Xijun said slowly, "You need to keep a clear head normally. Drinking is for celebrating the Spring Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Dad's birthday, Mom's birthday, and Grandma's birthday with your family."
Wu Haiyuan asked, "Isn't it Han Xijun's birthday?"
Han Xijun smiled and said, "I was working overtime on my birthday last year."
Wu Haiyuan said indignantly, "What? Working overtime on my birthday? How can the company do this?"
Han Xijun asked Wu Haiyuan, "And you, do you drink?"
Wu Haiyuan raised his right hand and spread his five fingers.
Han Xijun asked, "You've drunk it five times?"
Wu Haiyuan nodded and said, "Yes, five times. I drank it once on my coming-of-age day, and then..."
Customers come and go.
Han Xijun and Wu Haiyuan chatted and ate, their pace completely different from each other's.
We'd almost finished eating, so we started searching for nearby guesthouses.
Wu Haiyuan, on a sudden inspiration, asked Han Xijun, "Do you think there might be an app that, by asking where to find a certain type of guesthouse, would immediately search for guesthouses that match those criteria, along with information about their environment, prices, and so on?"
Han Xijun nodded and said, "There definitely will be, through algorithms, relying on big data..."
Wu Haiyuan interrupted, "I mean, would Han Xijun Xi make such an app?"
Han Xijun paused for a moment and then said, "Songwriting apps, travel apps, and what else?"
Wu Haiyuan asked in confusion, "There's more?"
Han Xijun said, "Think of another one, and I'll make it and give it to you."
"For me?"
"Your name has three characters, so I'll make three apps for you."
Wu Haiyuan subconsciously turned his head to look at the selfie stick on the table.
For entertainment purposes?
The unique romance of STEM men?
I can't really make three apps for myself.
"No rush, take your time to think it over, and tell me when you've made up your mind."
Han Xijun paid the bill.
He paid for the meal while Wu Haiyuan was distracted.
The guesthouse has been confirmed; it's located about one kilometer away.
When she came to her senses, she was already walking with Han Xijun on the streets of Shinjuku at night.
The streetlights cast long shadows on the two figures.
Han Xijun said, "There's an indoor hot spring, and the price is reasonable."
Wu Haiyuan perked up and said, "The guesthouse will provide dinner, right?"
"Aren't you full?"
"No, you should experience the homestay meals first, the island's home-style meals."
Han Xijun pointed to the convenience store next door: "It's past lunchtime, want to buy some snacks if you're hungry?"
Looking at the convenience store sign, Wu Haiyuan asked, "How about the beer?"
"Um?"
Wu Haiyuan suggested, "Would you like to have a drink?"
If it were anyone else, they would probably start imagining it.
When a girl suggests having a drink, isn't that like inviting you in for ramen at her doorstep?
Han Xijun asked, "Do you want to drink?"
Wu Haiyuan muttered, "If you don't want to drink, then don't."
Hearing the muttering, Han Xijun turned around and said, "Buy it."
It took ten minutes to get in and out of the convenience store.
I carefully selected four cans of beer.
Two of the cans were zero-alcohol fruit beers, and the other two were draft beers strongly recommended by the convenience store staff.
They also bought some snacks to go with the drinks. In Japan, edamame is considered a very high-end snack to go with drinks, and Wu Haiyuan had never tried it before.
Carrying beer and snacks, we successfully found our guesthouse.
The guests at this traditional farmhouse inn are almost all foreign tourists.
Appointment required.
Originally, Han Xijun and Wu Haiyuan were not supposed to have a chance to stay.
It just so happens that the guest who had booked a stay for today changed his plans at the last minute, so the guesthouse owner issued a last-minute check-in notice. Then, Han Xijun called to inquire and finally booked the stay.
A two-story traditional wooden building with a garden.
The garden also features artificial hills and ponds, and is planted with many flowers, creating a tranquil environment perfect for relaxation.
The living room is very large.
I took off my shoes and followed the boss to see the guest rooms on the first floor.
The guest room's open-air balcony connects to the back garden, and there is an indoor hot spring under the eaves that can accommodate four people at the same time.
The boss went out first.
The atmosphere instantly became a little awkward.
A guest room.
It is clearly intended for couples or married couples to stay in.
Han Xijun and Wu Haiyuan were naturally regarded as a couple by their boss.
Wu Haiyuan stood by the sliding door of the open-air balcony, while Han Xijun stood in front of the desk.
Putting down his backpack, Han Xijun broke the silence, saying, "There's only one bed."
Wu Haiyuan didn't turn around, looking at the wall of the back garden. Although he didn't know why he was looking at the wall, he said, "Yes, a bed."
Han Xijun said, "You sleep on the bed, I just happen to have some things to take care of."
Wu Haiyuan asked, "What about you? Aren't you going to sleep?"
Han Xijun said, "I'll just sleep on the floor after I'm done. I'll ask the boss to give me two more blankets and a pillow later."
The sound of something being put down reached Wu Haiyuan's ears.
He slowly turned around.
Han Xijun had already sat down at the desk and plugged in his laptop.
Do you work?
Now?
My gaze fell on the plastic bag on the table by the door.
Wu Haiyuan asked hesitantly, "So, are we still drinking?"
Han Xijun moved the mouse and said, "Is half an hour okay? You can rest for a bit first."
Wu Haiyuan said, "No need to rush."
She glanced at the only large bed in the room and thought, "Should I rest first?" How could she rest? Lie down on the bed right in front of Han Xijun? What a joke.
Sleeping flat on your back? Lying on your side? With your back to Han Xijun?
The visuals are a bit...
Cough
Clearing his throat, Wu Haiyuan walked to the bedside.
Standing on the balcony all the time isn't a solution, so I'll sit down and kill some time.
Yes, photo editing.
The other members are still waiting for me.
We agreed to contact each other after today's recording.
Is it over now?
After filming around the room, the cameras were indeed temporarily turned off.
Never mind, I'll just find something to do to kill time.
The budget hotel across the street.
The agent pushed a suitcase, preparing to cross the street to deliver something to Wu Haiyuan at the guesthouse.
This show certainly surprised the agent a lot.
After parting ways at the airport, he and the writer came straight to the hotel. They ate and drank together until an hour later when he received a message from Wu Haiyuan about checking into a guesthouse, at which point they rushed over and checked into the hotel.
I wonder what the situation is like at the guesthouse right now. Are they still filming a show? Would it be okay to just send things in directly and not affect the filming? Should I leave them at the door and have the owner give them to Wu Haiyuan?
The production team did not set up cameras in the guesthouse in advance.
Wu Haiyuan won't be with Han Xijun tonight, the two of them...
For some reason, I have a vague sense of worry.
