Chapter 54 What does it mean to catch a rabbit with your bare hands?
Terra, Wendy, and Andrea 2 are currently on their way to the Adventurers' Guild's Trials Grounds.
Andrea 2 and Wendy bought some breakfast on the street, while Terra didn't eat anything.
Wendy was still thinking about what happened at the hotel yesterday, and she realized that she knew too little about the two of them.
Although Terra showed no hostility towards her, and even showed unusual enthusiasm, chatting with her about this and that, and even tossing her a strange bow that could shoot out colorful bullets out of thin air, I think it was called a gun.
Wendy, however, was somewhat afraid of Terra. Firstly, Terra's behavior and logic were indeed hard for her to understand. Secondly, Terra had feelings for her, as if she regarded her as someone else, meaning that Terra felt that she was the same kind of person as her.
Wendy has no memory of her past, nor does she know if she really had any connection with Mr. Terra. What if Mr. Terra has mistaken her for someone else? Will she be killed repeatedly like the painter from yesterday?
Moreover, it's even more frightening when someone who was demolishing houses and killing people one second turns out to be smiling at her the next.
In this contrast, Wendy naturally began to get closer to the obviously more normal Andrea 2, but she still remained curious about Terra.
"Andrea 2, may I ask you a question?"
"What's wrong?"
"Um, I was thinking of asking yesterday, Mr. Terra didn't eat dinner yesterday, and I didn't see him eat anything this morning either. Is he really okay?" Wendy walked side by side with Andrea 2, looking up at Andrea 2's profile, whose cheeks were puffing out because her mouth was full of food.
I think Andrea 2 is quite cute.
"It's okay. When I first started dating Terra, I noticed this issue too, but Terra's body doesn't seem to need to eat. He... he said to me before, 'How could I possibly have a hunger debuff? Isn't that a debuff that only exists in the Easter egg seeds of the Eternal Realm?' or something like that."
"Debuff? Eternal Realm? Easter egg?" Wendy tilted her head.
"It's alright, it's normal not to understand. I don't understand either. After all, Terra is a higher... no, it's nothing. Terra's body structure might be different from ours. After all, Terra is a very powerful mage, and it's not impossible for them to modify their own bodies."
"Is that so?" Wendy glanced at Mr. Terra, who was walking ahead of her.
Besides that question, Wendy looked around and thought for a moment: "Andrea, there's another question I've wanted to ask before: Do elves all have an extra affinity for nature?"
Andrea 2: "I guess so, at least that's how I know pure elves."
Wendy picked up a small white rabbit from beside her feet and gathered it in front of her older sister Andrea 2: "So, are these animals only appearing around here because of Andrea 2?"
The little white rabbit was quite large, obscuring Wendy's already petite frame considerably.
Unlike the rabbits Wendy knew in the forest, the rabbit in her hand was very docile, completely unafraid of people. It wouldn't struggle when its fur was touched, and even seemed a bit dazed.
Wendy was too embarrassed to tell Andrea 2 that she had actually discovered some people in town were catching and eating these silly bunnies. She'd heard the meat was very good, completely unlike the dry, tough texture of regular rabbit meat.
It's not just this little bunny.
Now, new small animals occasionally pop out from the corners of the streets and alleys around them. Besides rabbits, there are squirrels; the rabbits only come in one white variety, while the squirrels come in two colors: brown and gray.
Moreover, these squirrels are frighteningly large. Normal squirrels are about the size of Wendy's hand, but these squirrels are the same size as the rabbit in Wendy's hand.
Just like the rabbits, they weren't afraid of people and were rather dazed. Wendy broke off a small piece of her breakfast biscuit, and the squirrels and rabbits naturally took it with both hands and gnawed on it, their big eyes staring at Wendy.
Not only on the ground, but also in the sky, some butterflies and ladybugs would fly by. They were much smaller than rabbits and squirrels, but still relatively large compared to other insects.
"No, it's not that. It's some kind of magic of Terra. These animals often appear around him." Andrea 2 had noticed this before.
"Is this how it is?" Wendy held up the bunny to eye level with herself. So cute.
"Wendy, how did you manage to catch that rabbit?!" Terra suddenly ran up to Wendy, startling her.
"Oh? I'm sorry, I didn't know these bunnies were so precious." Wendy quickly put the bunnies back on the ground. She thought Mr. Terra was there to scold her for touching his magical animals.
"Wendy, catch that bunny again." An exclamation bubble appeared above Terra's head.
Wendy did as she was told.
"Teach me!" Terra said.
"What?" Wendy didn't understand what Terra was talking about.
"Wendy, teach me how you picked up the bunny. In the old version, didn't you have to use the bug net sold by the merchant NPC to catch these little animals?"
Terra looked at the bunny in Wendy's hand and glanced around at it.
Why do you need a bug net to catch rabbits?! Andrea 2 thought to herself.
Wendy had to demonstrate again: "You have to do this first, and then do this to pick him up."
Terra watched as Wendy, this newbie, skillfully bent down, reached out, grabbed the bunny by the armpits, and lifted it up, and couldn't help but sigh in admiration.
"This is so complicated, can I even learn it?"
"Isn't this just catching a rabbit?!" Andrea 2 thought to herself.
"Complex...is it complicated?" Wendy didn't understand. Wasn't this something anyone could do? "And weren't these bunnies summoned by you, Mr. Terra?"
"Summon? So Wendy knows this? Yes, when the character is in a town environment, the monster spawn detection will be changed to spawn small animals proportionally."
Terra told Wendy to put the bunny back on the ground. He stuck his butt out, pointed the cursor at the bunny on the ground, and the bunny smacked its lips and looked up at him.
……
……
"What are you doing?" Andrea 2 couldn't help but ask.
"I'm trying to catch this bunny and put it in my backpack," Terra said, a depressed bubble rising above her head. "Why are my hands, my body, so unresponsive? Wendy, what shortcut did you press to make this reaching gesture happen?"
Wendy tilted her head.
Terra was a little unhappy that Wendy wouldn't tell her the method, but she quickly guessed the reason.
"Is that so? So you're telling me to figure it out myself? Even though Wendy is a newbie, you seem to know a lot. The reason you didn't tell me how to catch the rabbit is to avoid spoilers."
"Let me personally experience the fun of exploring the new version, and enjoy the process of tricking newbies with the mindset of a veteran, right?"
"I understand, I'll try it myself."
Terra had developed a greater respect for Wendy.
