Chapter 27 The 2th Star
Chapter 27 The 2th Star
Li Ang suddenly snapped out of his daze, looking at his slightly trembling fingers, still stained with ink, his eyes filled with surprise.
We've finally broken through!
He immediately brought up the panel to check.
Name: Li Ang
Current mental strength: 15/15
[Number of Magic Stars in the Spiritual World: 2]
[Bound facilities: Windrunner Canvas Lv.1, Speed-Up Pocket Watch Lv.1, Standard Practice Cauldron Lv.1, Blackstone Grinding Bowl Lv.1, Inferior Gray Quill Pen Lv.1]
Two stars now! I'm just one step away from becoming an apprentice wizard.
Overwhelmed with joy, he closed his eyes and began to perceive the magic around him more clearly.
When Li Ang opened his eyes again, he saw the "Level 1 Spellbook" on the table, which he had only copied one page of, and a smile appeared on his lips.
It seems that this task of copying books is far more valuable than he imagined.
After a moment's thought, Li Ang decided to upgrade the [Speed-Up Pocket Watch] to Lv2 first. With the success of the pocket watch...
He chuckled, picked up his pen again, and began writing furiously. "Sorry, students, I'm going to scramble to your necks."
As the pen danced across the page, the techniques for casting various level 1 spells appeared in my mind one by one, as if I had actually practiced them.
As time went by, his mental strength gradually recovered somewhat. Looking at the quill pen in his hand, he had a slight thought.
Upgrade successful
[Inferior gray quill pen: Lv2]
[Current effect: Copying speed +20%, Magical comprehension +20%]
"The effect is more obvious."
Li Ang nodded in satisfaction and resumed writing furiously, time slipping away quietly under his pen.
When the black wooden clock on the desk pointed to three in the morning, Li Ang finally finished copying the last page of the second copy of the "Level 1 Spellbook".
He let out a long sigh, put down the quill pen, and rubbed his slightly sore wrists and brow.
Even with the pocket watch to restore mental energy, the continuous high-intensity copying was taking a toll on the body.
"That's enough for today," Li Ang blew out the oil lamp, and the room returned to darkness. He lay down on the soft bed and fell into a deep sleep almost instantly.
As if he had only closed his eyes for a moment, the clear chime of the bell woke Li Ang again. He opened his eyes and saw that it was already bright outside the window, and the clock pointed to eight o'clock.
He had only slept for about five hours, but thanks to the effect of the [Acceleration Pocket Watch], he felt refreshed and full of energy, and the mental energy he had consumed yesterday had been fully restored.
He got up briskly, washed up, changed into a gray robe, pinned on his badge, and walked briskly toward the canteen.
At the entrance of the cafeteria, he ran into Lottie. The two walked into the cafeteria together without any hesitation. Li Ang ordered the premium set meal as usual, while Lottie strongly refused Li Ang's suggestion to buy her breakfast. However, she did not object to Li Ang's act of sharing and was even somewhat looking forward to it.
After breakfast, the apprentices walked towards the small classroom on the fourth floor in twos and threes, while Lottie obediently followed behind Li Ang, and the two entered the classroom together.
Today's mentor is a male wizard with white hair and beard, wearing a blue robe and sharp eyes.
His gaze, sharp as a hawk's, swept over each apprentice entering the classroom. When he saw the unique silver badge on Li Ang's chest, he paused, a faint hint of amusement appearing on his usually impassive face: "Oh? You're the lucky kid who got noticed by the 'Dwelling Princess'?"
Although Li Ang was somewhat puzzled as to why they all addressed Teacher Eve in that way, he still politely bowed and said, "You're right."
The old wizard withdrew his gaze and said no more.
After the apprentices were seated, he tapped on the podium, his voice hoarse yet extremely penetrating:
"I am your instructor for today, Edwin Hayes. Today's lesson is on concocting the Night Owl Potion."
This medication temporarily enhances the user's visual acuity in low-light conditions and is one of the simplest basic medications available.
Edwin spoke succinctly, immediately beginning to explain the ingredient ratios and brewing techniques for the potion.
The entire explanation took only about ten minutes, much faster than Karin's previous lesson.
Many of the reserve trainees below were completely confused and sat looking at each other in bewilderment.
In the last lesson they were just identifying herbs, how did they jump straight to making potions today? The gap in between is just too big.
One of the bolder apprentices mustered his courage and spoke up: "Instructor Edwin, isn't this... a bit too...?"
"Hurry?" Edwin interrupted him coldly, his sharp gaze sweeping across the entire room.
"The path to becoming a wizard is never a step-by-step process. Resources and guidance are limited; one must rely more on one's own study and understanding."
"Anyone who doesn't even have this basic self-learning ability should pack their bags and go home as soon as possible, so as not to waste the resources in the tower."
His words were forceful and silenced all the apprentices who were still hoping for a lucky break, instantly creating a tense atmosphere.
The practice began, and the apprentices each received a set of materials for concocting the Night Owl potion. Everyone's face was filled with solemnity as they took the materials back to their seats to try their hand at refining it.
With a thought, Li Ang first upgraded his standard practice cauldron to Lv2, then recalled the key points that Instructor Edwin had just mentioned and compared them with the contents recorded in "Basic Potions".
After reviewing the process, Li Ang also began refining. The materials he received had already been preliminarily processed. All the apprentices had to do was control the heat and guide their mental energy, which seemed rather child's play to Li Ang, who had already refined potions several times.
This time, Li Ang did not choose to use the water-making technique to condense pure water. Instead, he chose to use the ordinary purified water obtained from the classroom, just like the other apprentices. He did not want to reveal too much about the methods he possessed.
Ultimately, while most of the trainee apprentices' crucibles either emitted black smoke or condensed into strangely colored lumps, only Li Ang and another apprentice dressed in gray robes successfully concocted the ink-like Night Owl potion.
Edwin strolled over, first picking up the other grey-robed apprentice's vial and examining it closely. As he looked, he nodded slightly, a rare hint of approval appearing on his face:
"Hmm, good purity. As expected of a child from the Field family, with such a strong family tradition. Rufus Field, you haven't disgraced your father."
Rufus bowed slightly with a reserved air, his face displaying a calm and matter-of-fact demeanor.
Edwin then picked up Leon's potion and examined it carefully as well. Suddenly, a barely perceptible look of surprise flashed in his eyes.
This potion is actually of excellent quality? An ordinary apprentice is more talented than the offspring of a wizarding family that specializes in potions? This is somewhat unacceptable to him, a traditional wizard who values lineage.
He didn't say much, only offering a brief comment: "Hmm, you passed too."
Suddenly, a loud bang exploded in the classroom, plunging the room into chaos.
"My God, what is that sound?"
"My ears...I...I can't hear anything."
"What is this? I'm covered in this sticky stuff."
The sudden loud noise startled Edwin, who had been keeping a straight face. He quickly realized what had happened, and his face turned ashen: "Everyone, stay calm."
