Chapter 283 - 257: Elf Queen
Chapter 283 - 257: Elf Queen
Leaving Akelie, Lynn prepared to head to the Elf Kingdom immediately after returning.
Although the Celestial Destiny Empire is further from here, delaying a visit to the Elf Kingdom to fetch Xiya wouldn’t be too late. However, currently, there’s uncertainty about whether Xiya has been chosen as the Saintess, so it’s hard to say if there would be delays. Going early is certainly more stable.
Back in the room, Lynn explained the situation to Natasha, and the little dragon instantly expressed her desire to go as well.
She wasn’t missing Xiya because they hadn’t seen each other in some days, but she had long heard of the Elf Kingdom’s breathtaking beauty and had never been. She wanted to travel too.
The human and dragon both had space equipment, so there wasn’t much to pack. Having said his goodbyes to Akelie, Lynn decisively took Natasha on the road.
Teleporting from the Light Empire to the Elf Kingdom took less than a day. Lynn and Natasha arrived at the outskirts of the Elf Forest just as evening fell.
Due to the Elves’ lifestyle habits, the Elf Kingdom, although named a kingdom, only has the Elf Royal City as its main city. The rest of the elves mostly live in villages or gathering points scattered around the Elf Forest.
The sprawling Elf Forest is the territorial scope of the Elf Kingdom. Entering the Elf Forest means stepping into the Elf Kingdom, while leaving the forest signifies departing from it. They have no interest in the vast lands outside the forest and have never expanded their territory since founding.
But don’t be fooled by the Elves’ apparent limitation to the forest; their long lifespans and inherent natural talent have consistently brought forth geniuses. In this generation, the Elf Kingdom’s overall prowess ranks first among the twelve kingdoms.
The current Elf Queen, exceptionally gifted, is just five hundred years old, yet her strength level rivals the Saint Emperor of Light from the Human Race. If not for the deep heritage of the Eight Great Empires, each with Divine Blood inheritance, the Elf Kingdom could have been upgraded to an empire.
On this matter, the Elf Race was held back by the Goddess of Nature and Life they believe in. If the Goddess weren’t perpetually single, thus unable to pass on Divine Blood lineage to the Elves, the Elf Queen would surely be among the ten Saint Emperors.
The current Elf Queen’s strength has long reached the Saint Emperor level but lacks the advantage of Divine Blood.
Of course, should the Elf Queen one day surpass the Saint Emperor of Light and soar to level 800 or above, the Divine Protection Continent would likely break convention to crown her.
"Lynn, should we fly through the night to find Xiya, or rest a night and then continue?"
Standing at the edge of the Elf Forest and looking at the somewhat eerie green ocean under the night sky, Natasha scratched her head and asked Lynn beside her.
Due to the large number of popular handsome men and beautiful women living in the Elf Kingdom, strict restrictions are placed on the teleportation arrays leading directly to the Elf Royal City to avoid constant disturbances from admirers.
Firstly, teleportation is limited to daytime; at night, arrays are closed and not activated unless in emergencies.
Secondly, anyone wishing to teleport to the Elf Royal City must previously obtain an entry permit issued by the Elf Kingdom’s Embassy.
Lastly, if one chooses to traverse the Elf Forest to reach the Elf Royal City instead of using the teleportation array, they need not only to have an entry permit but also to undergo inspections by the Elf Race to ensure safe and legal entry.
No choice, the entire Elf Race lives in the Elf Forest, and the Elf Kingdom has only one main city. Without stringent entry controls, small issues could easily lead to big problems.
"The Elf Forest is too vast; sending a message to Xiya here would take a long time. If we enter directly, the inspections along the way would cause too much delay. Better to wait for the teleportation array to open tomorrow and teleport straight across."
While with Natasha’s flying speed, if he rode her directly to the Elf Royal City, they might arrive before dawn, the hassle of traversing the Elf Forest and inspections makes it too troublesome. With his relationship with Xiya, they can’t simply force their way through; such an ordeal might take a day and a night without arriving.
Unless all the elves recognize the Promise of the Elf King, something far more effective than any permit, but that’s unlikely.
"Then let’s enter the city; after teleporting for so long, I want to sleep soundly."
Near the outer edge of the Elf Forest is a city equipped with a teleportation array. Originally just wilderness, it was proposed to build a city due to its proximity to the Elf Forest and frequent travelers.
This initially started as a small town, but due to the overwhelming allure of the Elf Forest, it became bustling and prosperous, with the small town unable to satisfy people’s demands.
After numerous expansions, this city, humorously dubbed as the Elf Acropolis, is nearly comparable to a main city. One can’t deny the power of beauty-loving people’s desire...
Lynn and Natasha’s teleportation point was outside the Elf Acropolis, right facing the Elf Forest after exiting the teleportation array.
The city has one teleportation array, and outside another, offering options to those traveling to the Elf Kingdom, acknowledging not everyone seeks efficiency or wishes to arrive in the Elf Royal City in a mere second.
Some people insist on traversing the Elf Forest themselves to savor the scenery. If you ask what sights the primitive forest has to offer, the answer can only be that it’s teeming with viewing delights.
